WHO’s 7 October 2026 briefing says it was seeking further information after reports of suspected pneumonic plague in Irkutsk, Siberia. The briefing says Russia reported that no recent plague case had been reported in Irkutsk; WHO was still seeking test results and further details. It does not report a WHO-confirmed case count.
